Interest in tiny-k Early Intervention:
My youngest son, Jonathan, has been a tiny-k client since he was one month old. He was born with a genetic disorder that has impeded his development and required the use of a feeding tube. Our family felt overwhelmed and unprepared to care for him. Then tiny-k entered our lives and helped us create a treatment plan that Jonathan has thrived with. Every milestone he achieves is thanks to tiny-k. I want to repay the organization for providing our baby with the best of care.

Personal Information:
I am married to Richard Appelhanz who is an accountant at the University of Kansas. We have 3 children: Richie, 10; Allison, 8; and Jonathan, 20 months. I graduated from KU School of Pharmacy with a bachelor's degree in 1997 and a doctorate in 2005. After working as a pharmacist for 10 years, I left the field to become a stay-at-home mom. Our family also enjoys the company of 2 dogs, 2 gerbils, 2 chameleons, and a fish.

Interest in tiny-k Early Intervention:
I started my professional career as a licensed social worker working mainly with children and families. My experiences as a social worker taught me how critical the first few years of life are in making sure children grow into healthy, successful adults. I agreed to serve on the Board of tinyk because I know that the work being done by tinyk is vitally important. I am honored to be able to contribute to that work.

Personal Information:
I graduated with a Bachelors of Social Work from the University of Kansas in 1996 and received a J.D. from the Washburn School of Law in 2005. I currently work as an attorney at Ralston, Pope & Diehl, LLC in Topeka where I represent plaintiffs in cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury, and other situations where a person, corporation, or insurance company is not taking responsibility for harms caused. I am also interested in assisting victims of child and sexual abuse. I live in Lawrence with my wife, two sons, and two dogs. I enjoy mountain biking, cycling, and hiking.

Interest in tiny-k Early Intervention:
My oldest son, Wyatt, began receiving services from tiny-k when he was 8 months old. Even though I had some knowledge regarding child development, I was not well versed in early development. From Wyatt receiving services such as speech, PT, and OT our family was able to clearly understand the importance of early intervention. With each milestone that he met, our family and his team celebrated.

Personal Information:
My husband Mark works for Collective Brands in the IT department. We have two sons, Wyatt, age 9, and Beckett, age 6. I have been a social worker for over 10 years. My emphasis is at-risk adolescents.
